Bret P. Shaffer


Bret P. Shaffer practices in the areas of Family Law, Municipal and Land Use Law, Bankruptcy Law and General Litigation.

He has appeared and argued on behalf of clients in many of the Courts of Common Pleas in central Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Schiffman, Sheridan & Brown P.C., Mr. Shaffer was an associate attorney at Baric Scherer LLC in Carlisle from 2010 through 2015.

Mr. Shaffer received his undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 2007, where he graduated from the Schreyer Honors College.  He received his law degree in 2010 from The Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University.

During law school, Mr. Shaffer served on the Penn State International Law Review, participated for two semesters in the Civil Rights Appellate Clinic and interned at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Washington, D.C.

In 2012, Mr. Shaffer was a recipient of Cumberland County’s Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.  He is a past member of the House of Delegates for the Pennsylvania Bar Association, where he represented Cumberland County.  Mr. Shaffer previously served for three years as Treasurer for the Sadler Health Center Corporation in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  He has also served as a board member for the Pennsylvania Middle District Bankruptcy Bar Association.
